According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the upcoming AirPods Pro, similar to the iPhone 15 series, will feature a USB Type-C charging port. The Power On newsletter reports that Apple is preparing to launch a new AirPods Pro case with a USB Type-C port, coinciding with the release of the iPhone 15 series.
Additionally, it is rumoured that the AirPods Pro will be compatible with the forthcoming Vision Pro AR/VR headset. Apple is also exploring more affordable options to compete with Samsung, Sony, and Amazon.
The newsletter further suggests that Apple is currently developing a hearing test feature on the AirPods Pro, which is expected to be introduced in the iOS 17 update, recently showcased at WWDC 2023. This feature will involve the AirPods playing various sounds, and based on the user’s responses, the device will be able to identify potential hearing-related issues.
Moreover, future AirPods Pro models are said to include additional hardware capable of measuring body temperature through the ear canal.
In recent announcements, Apple unveiled several new features for the AirPods Pro, such as an auto-switching functionality between transparency mode and noise-cancelling mode. Furthermore, the AirPods Pro will soon support adaptive audio formats.
