Samsung seems to be gearing up for the launch of its fifth-generation foldables: the Galaxy Z Fold5 and the Galaxy Z Flip5. According to multiple reports, including one from the South Korean publication The Chosun Ilbo, Samsung will hold the next Unpacked event on July 26, where the company will unveil the next-generation foldable devices. Samsung to Launch New Foldable Phones in Seoul in July — The Chosun Ilbo (@EnglishChosun) May 16, 2023 The report also suggests that the event might take place in Seoul, South Korea, instead of the US. Furthermore, both devices are said to go on sale on August 11 and will be available worldwide. Along with the foldable smartphones, Samsung is also expected to unveil the Galaxy Watch6 series and the next-generation Galaxy Buds at the Unpacked event. If these reports turn out to be true, then the company will unveil its latest foldables at least a few weeks earlier than last year. The Galaxy Z Flip5 and the Z Fold5 are said to be thinner, more capable, and expected to feature a new design language. According to rumours, the Galaxy Z Flip5 will have a 6.2-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch primary foldable screen. Similarly, the Z Fold5 is also said to include a large 3.4-inch cover display and a 6.7-inch primary display. Both phones are expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. While the Z Fold5 might offer up to 12 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, the Z Flip5 is expected to offer 8 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of internal storage. With competition jumping on the foldable bandwagon, Samsung needs to step up to compete against the likes of Google, Oppo, Xiaomi, and even Honor. Hence, the upcoming foldables from Samsung are likely to pack cutting-edge technology to take on their rivals, this could include improved foldable screens and sturdier build quality.
