Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, S9+ and S9: A detailed spec analysis

With the Galaxy Tab S9 series, Samsung is offering the same premium hardware in three new avatars.

When it comes to Android tablets, Samsung is a pioneer. This time around, the company announced three new tablets within the Tab S9 series at its Galaxy Unpacked event. The only striking difference between these tablets is the screen size; however, it’s not the only difference worth noting.

Despite having the same chip, these tablets cater to different kinds of users. Here is an in-depth comparison between the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S9+, and the Galaxy Tab S9 to help you choose the apt tablet for your needs.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series pricing details

The base model (Wi-Fi) of the Galaxy Tab S9 costs Rs 72,999 and offers 8 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage. Similarly, base models of the Tab S9+ and the Tab S9 Ultra (Wi-Fi) with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB of storage are priced at 90,999, and Rs 1,08,999, respectively.

Galaxy Tab S9 series design

All three tablets flaunt a premium metal glass sandwich design with antenna bands, and there is also an indentation for the S-Pen on the models with an IP68 rating for both the tablet and the stylus.

The Tab S9 Ultra being the biggest of the lot, it is also on the heavier side and weighs 732 grams. Similarly, the Galaxy Tab S9+ and the Galaxy Tab S9 weigh 586 grams and 498 grams, respectively. With no major distinction in the design, all three tablets look identical.

All three variants of the Galaxy Tab S9 offer a premium Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The Tab S9 Ultra has a 14.6-inch screen with thinner bezels when compared to the other two models, resulting in a higher screen-to-body ratio of around 90 per cent. While the Tab S9 with an 11-inch display and the Tab S9+ with a 12.4-inch screen have thicker but uniform bezels, the Tab S9 Ultra has a slightly raised bezel on one side which houses dual selfie cameras.

The Galaxy Tab S9 being the most compact should be easy to carry. Similarly, the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra with its large 14.6-inch screen will offer a laptop-like real estate for professional and personal use cases, especially when paired with the official keyboard folio case. The Tab S9+ being in the middle offers the best of both worlds.

Galaxy Tab S9 series cameras

The Galaxy Tab S9 just has a 13 MP camera at the back and a 12 MP ultra-wide angle lens at the front. Similarly, the Galaxy Tab S9+ has a dual-camera setup at the back with a 13 MP wide-angle and an 8 MP ultra-wide angle lens, similarly, the device also has a 12 MP selfie camera. Lastly, the Tab S9 Ultra has a dual camera setup at the back with a 13 MP wide angle and an 8 MP ultra-wide angle lens and a pair of 12 MP selfie cameras at the front.

Galaxy Tab S9 series performance

All three variants of the Galaxy Tab S9 are based on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The Tab S9 comes in two variants with 8/12 GB RAM and 128/256GB of internal storage. Similarly, the Tab S9+ also comes in two models with 12 GB RAM and 256/512 GB of internal storage. Lastly, the Tab S9 Ultra is available in three models with 12 GB RAM and 256/512 GB of internal storage and then a high-end model with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB of internal storage.

All three models come in either Wi-Fi only or with 5G networking capabilities. They also run on Android 13 OS with custom OneUI 5.1 skin on top.

Galaxy Tab S9 series battery and charging

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra has a large 11,200 mAh battery, the Tab S9+ has a 10,090 mAh battery, and the Tab S9 has an 8,400 mAh battery. All three variants support up to 45W of fast charging and the USB Type-C port is also USB 3.2 compliant, allowing users to connect this tablet to a television or an external monitor.
