Samsung is set to launch its Galaxy XR headset by late October, according to a recent report. The company will reportedly host a launch event in South Korea, its home base. While the exact date remains unspecified, the event is expected before October 15 to allow for pre-orders. FNNews reports that the headset will be displayed in Samsung stores starting October 20, aligning with earlier Korean rumors pointing to an October 21 launch. The headset, codenamed Project Moohan, has appeared at several events this year, including the Galaxy S25 Unpacked event in January, MWC in February, Google I/O in May, and smaller conferences like AWE 2025. Project Moohan Details about Project Moohan and Galaxy XR are limited. Leaks suggest a price around $2,000—higher than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 but lower than Apple’s Vision Pro. According to Android Headlines and UploadVR, the headset features 1.3-inch Micro-OLED displays with a resolution of 3552×3840, delivering 13.64 million pixels per eye. This surpasses the Vision Pro’s pixel count by about two million and significantly exceeds the Quest 3’s 4.56 million pixels. The device is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2, a more advanced version of the chip used in the Meta Quest 3 and 3S. There’s no confirmation of a global launch this month; earlier reports suggest a debut in South Korea and other Asian markets first, with Western markets to follow. The Future of AR Samsung is also developing AI-powered smart glasses, signalling a shift toward XR and AR technologies. Meanwhile, Apple has reportedly paused development of a new Vision Pro to focus on Apple Glasses. Meta recently unveiled three new AR glasses, including the Ray-Ban Display glasses with an AR display in one lens. Additionally, Google and Samsung are collaborating on Project Haean AR eyewear, rumored for release in early 2026. With multiple companies vying for dominance, 2026 could be a pivotal year for AR glasses.
