(Image: X/ OnePlus)OnePlus has announced that it will be launching its next-generation operating system (OS), OxygenOS 16, which is based on Android 16, on October 16 in India. This OS will bring significantly redesigned elements to the OnePlus device after the update and will be integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI) features.
While previous handsets may get the new firmware through an OTA update, the company’s next flagship, the OnePlus 15, will come pre-installed with OxygenOS 16. The tech company has recently announced that the update will also include Google’s Gemini models, allowing the phones to perform generative AI tasks on-device.
Together with the Plus Mind functionality, this will enable Gemini to access a user’s stored content from the Mind Space hub and introduce additional on-device AI capabilities.

Another anticipated feature of OxygenOS 16 is a full-screen always-on display. It is anticipated that the next version will fill the screen, providing quicker access to information without requiring the device to be unlocked.
With the latest firmware update, OnePlus AI, which is anticipated to contain a few new AI-powered tools, will be available on the company’s phones. These features might let users ask questions to an AI chatbot about the objects in the camera, objects on their phone screens, and Circle to search.
