MWC 2024: OnePlus launches Watch 2 with up to 100 hours of battery life

OnePlus' new smartwatch boasts long battery life thanks to dual processors, offering 100 hours in RTOS mode and 48 hours in WearOS mode.

OnePlus, at the Mobile World Congress, has unveiled its latest flagship smartwatch — the OnePlus Watch 2. The smartwatch will be available for purchase in India starting March 4 via Amazon for Rs 24,999. With additional discounts and bank offers, the price of the Watch 2 comes down to Rs 22,999. The watch is available in two colour options — Black Steel and Radiant Steel, both featuring a 46mm dial.

The OnePlus Watch 2 is only compatible with Android smartphones, and users need to download the OHealth app to pair the smartwatch. The Watch 2 cannot be used with an iPhone or an Android Go-powered smartphone.

OnePlus is solving the issue of battery life by using a different approach, where the Watch 2 has two processors — Snapdragon W5 to handle WearOS and BES2700 to handle RTOS. The watch can offer up to 100 hours of battery life in smart mode (RTOS), and it can last up to 48 hours in WearOS mode. In power saver mode, the Watch 2 can last up to 12 days. There is also fast charging support, where, 10 minutes of charge time can offer up to 24 hours of usage and it takes 60 minutes to fully charge.

The Watch has a 1.43-inch circular display with 466x466p resolution, protected by Sapphire Crystal glass and a stainless steel chassis. It also comes with a standard 22mm strap, which makes it easy to upgrade. The display can offer up to 1000 nits of peak brightness, and the watch itself is IP68-rated for water and dust resistance, along with MIL-STD-810H standard military-grade certification.

In terms of smartwatch capabilities, the OnePlus Watch 2 offers 20 plus watch faces with over 80 downloadable watch faces, and users can also install third-party watch faces from the Google Play Store. It supports over 100 sports modes, and there is also support for L5 GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi, with no cellular connectivity.
