Meta has announced that it is bringing its AI-powered chatbot to the Ray-Ban smart glasses. In a blog post, the company announced that Meta AI can see, hear and identify things using the built-in camera and microphone.
The smart glasses now offer a hands-free experience by letting users trigger the AI chatbot using the ‘Hey, Meta’ wake-up phrase. The tech giant says users can also ask the chatbot to take photos, suggest captions for the captured image and ask follow-up questions about it within 15 seconds of clicking.
Similar to ChatGPT, Bing and Bard, Meta AI can also translate text and help get more information about objects. In a video shared on Instagram, Mark Zuckerberg shared a demo which shows the Meta CEO asking the chatbot to suggest which pants would look good with the shirt he has in hand.
Meta says these features are currently available to Ray-Ban Meta smart glass users living in the United States who are part of an early access program. Apart from the aforementioned features, Meta AI will also be able to retrieve real-time information from the web using Bing by asking questions like “Hey Meta, is there a pharmacy close by?”.
The Meta View app, which helps the smart glasses pair with a smartphone, stores all AI responses along with the photo, making it easy for users to see all their queries in one place.
