Remember the original 2007 iPhone that kicked off the smartphone revolution? A rare 4GB version of Apple's game-changing handset is hitting the auction block, and it's expected to fetch a ludicrous amount of cash. Last year, a similar 4GB sealed original iPhone sold for a staggering $190,000 at auction, setting a new record. It blew past the previous high of $63,000 for an 8GB model. The 4GB variant is the true unicorn, since Apple only produced it for a couple months before discontinuing it in favor of the 8GB version. After that headline-making $190k sale, a couple more 4GB sealed iPhones hit the market, going for $133,000 and $87,000 respectively. Now another of these mega-rare 4GB units has surfaced, with the auction kicking off at LCG Auctions with a $10,000 starting bid. The two-week auction just went live, so the final selling price remains to be seen. According to LCG's listing, this factory-sealed 4GB iPhone is in pristine condition, with crisp edges, bright colors on the box art, and a clean, intact seal. It's never been activated or opened since rolling off the assembly line in 2007. While arguably more of a collector's novelty than anything, these early iPhone artifacts highlight the incredible impact Apple's smartphone had on the tech world. Who knows, maybe this 4GB model will reset the record and fetch over $200,000 from a diehard Apple fan with very deep pockets.
