Google is gearing up to launch its first foldable smartphone – Pixel Fold at the annual Google I/O event, scheduled for May 10. The Pixel Fold is real, and while Google didn’t provide any specifications for the device, based on a short teaser video the phone has a full outer display that opens up to a larger inner display, similar to the style seen on Samsung’s Galaxy Fold 4. Thanks to leaks and speculations, there is a lot of information on the Pixel Fold, including specifications, features, and a lot more. Here is everything we have learned so far about Google’s first foldable.

Pixel Fold will take design cues from the Galaxy Fold 4

The form factor of the Pixel Fold is similar to most folding smartphones. The phone comes with a curved metal frame, possibly with a stereo speaker setup, and a USB Type-C port at the bottom and the phone is held together using a metallic hinge. Like any foldable, the Pixel Fold seems to miss out on a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The cover display of Pixel Fold is said to have a 5.79-inch cover display with a slightly wider aspect ratio when compared to the one on the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The device is said to include a 7.69-inch foldable primary OLED screen, possibly with FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.

Pixel Fold will be powered by the Tensor G2 chip

The Pixel Fold is said to be powered by the Tensor G2, the chip that also powers the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, and even the upcoming Pixel 7a. The device is said to come in a single memory option of 12 GB and for the storage, the upcoming foldable might come in 256 GB and 512 GB of internal storage. The phone is likely to ship with Android 13 and will be the first foldable to get an Android 14 update.

The Pixel Fold is likely to borrow the triple camera setup from the Pixel 7 Pro, hence, the phone will have a triple camera setup with a 48 MP wide-angle camera, a 10.8 MP ultra-wide angle lens, and then a 10.8 MP telephoto zoom lens. On the cover display, the phone is said to have a 9.5 MP shooter and on the inside, the device is speculated to pack an 8 MP camera.

The Pixel Fold is likely to be powered by a 4,821 mAh battery with support for fast charging via the USB Type-C port and the device is also expected to support wireless charging. In terms of pricing, the Pixel Fold will definitely be on the expensive side, and could easily cost as much as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4.
