Google has launched the Pixel 7a, the latest entry in the Pixel A-series smartphone. The device was unveiled at Google’s annual developer conference in Mountain View, California. Read on to find out more about the phone and how you can get it at a special launch price.

In terms of design, the Pixel 7a looks a lot like the last year’s Pixel 7, which was launched last year. However, the Pixel 7a has a slightly smaller 6.1-inch screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. The display also has an in-display fingerprint sensor. Just like the Pixel 6a, the Pixel 7a is also IP67 rated for water and dust resistance.

The latest premium mid-range camera-centric smartphone from Google comes with the new Tensor G2 chip, an improved camera setup with a 64 MP primary shooter, and the phone also has an improved 13 MP ultra-wide angle lens and an upgraded 13 MP selfie camera. Google says that the Pixel 7a’s main camera features a 72% larger sensor than Pixel 6a, which should translate to better night imagery. The phone also features the Titan M2 security chip, providing an additional layer of protection on top of Android’s default security measures.

The device has a single physical nano SIM card slot and it also supports eSIM. Additional connectivity features include Wi-Fi 6e and Bluetooth 5.2. The phone comes with a 4,385 mAh battery with support for 20W fast wired charging and 18W wireless charging, a first for Google’s “a” series smartphone.

Some of the prominent camera features of the Pixel 7a include 8x Super Res Zoom and the device can also videos with up to 4K resolution at 30fps on all three cameras. The phone also offers photo editing features like Magic Eraser and Photo Unblur via Google Photos. Customers can also get three months of YouTube Premium and Google One (100 GB) subscription for three months for free.

Lastly, Google says that the Pixel 7a features an all-new midframe architecture, which makes it the “most durable A-series yet, equipped to handle drops and tumbles.” Sustainability has also been paid attention to, with the phone’s aluminium housing made with 100% recycled content.
