Earlier this year, Google introduced a new feature called “Circle to Search” that allows users to search for anything they see on their phone’s screen without switching applications. However, it is currently limited to the Google Pixel 8 and Samsung Galaxy S24 series. And while Google Lens offers similar functionalities on older phones, a new report by Android Authority suggests that the app might soon get two new features that make it more useful.

During the APK teardown of the Google app v15.18.30.29 beta, it was noted that the Google Lens might soon let users select videos and search for content in a specific video. As it turns out, Google has also added play and pause controls in the top right corner so users can easily navigate to the frame of their choice.

The report also states that Google is planning to add a translate button to the Google Lens app viewfinder, which will be visible in the lower right corner of the screen. If you tap on it once, it will open the translate mode. To return to the normal mode, tap on it twice.

While Google Lens already lets users translate text, users have to switch to the translate tab to do so. However, the new translate button might be more convenient since it requires fewer clicks.

Earlier this year, the tech giant rolled out a new feature which automatically saves images when you use them to search for information using the Lens shortcut in the Google app. In October 2023, the company introduced a bunch of new features that help students solve math equations and visualise physics, chemistry and biology models in 3D.
