Ahead of the festive season, Google is adding a new feature to the world’s most popular email service – Gmail. Now, when you purchase something from the internet, Gmail will show it in a new “Purchases” tab.

In a blog post, Google says Gmail’s new Purchases tab “brings all your purchase and delivery updates together in one place. This will give you a bird’s eye view of all your upcoming package deliveries in one simple, organised list.” This is really handy for users who often make online purchases and have a hard time keeping track of all their packages, as the new feature shows upcoming as well as past orders, eliminating the need to search through emails for receipts or shipment updates.

The tech giant went on to say that all packages set to arrive in the next 24 hours will show up at the top of your primary inbox. Google also added a summary card, a new view which will show up in your purchase-related emails and package updates in a streamlined interface. The new order tracking features start rolling out today and will be available on both Gmail web and mobile app around the world with personal Google accounts.

Apart from the new order tracking features, Gmail is also updating the Promotions category. Now, users will be able to sort their promotional emails by “most relevant”, making it easy for them to get updates from senders and brands they are interested in.

Google said they are also incorporating “nudges”, which will show up and highlight upcoming deals and timely offers so you don’t miss out on them. To do so, all Gmail users need to do is head over to the “Promotions” tab and sort their emails by “most relevant.” However, this feature will be coming to the mobile version of the app in the coming weeks.
