(Image: Dolby)Dolby and LG Electronics are working towards changing how people experience immersive sound at home, with wireless Dolby Atmos set to become a practical reality in 2026. The two companies have unveiled the LG Sound Suite, a modular home audio system built around Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, a technology designed to deliver cinematic sound without the traditional complexity of wired speaker systems.
At the centre of the announcement is the H7 soundbar, described as the world’s first soundbar powered by Dolby Atmos FlexConnect. Its launch marks the expansion of FlexConnect into an entirely new category of audio devices and signals a broader push to make high-end home audio more flexible and accessible. The system allows users to build and expand their setup over time, starting small and adding speakers as their needs evolve.
LG confirmed that Dolby Atmos FlexConnect will also be supported across its latest range of premium televisions, with select 2025 models receiving the feature through a future software update. In its most straightforward form, the technology lets users connect wireless speakers directly to a TV and place them wherever they best fit the room. The system then automatically calibrates the sound, removing the need for precise speaker positioning or specialist knowledge.

The LG Sound Suite itself is designed to scale across a wide range of needs. It supports 27 different speaker configurations, from simple two-speaker arrangements to a full 13.1.7-channel home theatre. A complete setup can include the H7 soundbar, up to four M7 or M5 surround speakers and a W7 subwoofer. Dolby Atmos FlexConnect can work with any TV when the H7 soundbar acts as the lead device, and it can also be used directly with compatible LG 4K Dolby Vision-enabled premium TVs paired with wireless speakers or a subwoofer.
LG says the partnership is about giving users control over how their system fits into their space. By combining Dolby Atmos FlexConnect with LG’s wireless, modular design and AI-driven tuning, the company aims to offer cinematic sound from any seat in the room, regardless of size or layout. LG plans to showcase the LG Sound Suite powered by Dolby Atmos FlexConnect at CES 2026, scheduled for January 6–9.
