Each iPhone 15 model is built differently and for a specific purpose, this guide will help you choose the right model for you.

Apple’s iPhone 15 series is already available for pre-order and will soon go on sale, starting September 22. This time around, the Cupertino-based tech giant has made some substantial upgrades to both the Pro and non-Pro iPhone 15 models. These upgrades include new colour options, a slightly curved frame, and, not to forget, a brand-new USB-C charging port.

If you’re looking forward to upgrading your old smartphone to a brand-new one from the iPhone 15 series, here are a few things to consider to choosing the right iPhone that fits your needs.

iPhone 15 series: Features, specifications, and pricing

The iPhone 15 series consists of four models. The 6.1-inch iPhone 15 is the most affordable option, with a price tag of Rs 79,900 in India. For those seeking a larger entry-level iPhone, there’s the iPhone 15 Plus with its 6.7-inch screen and a bigger battery, and the base model of the same with 128 GB storage costs Rs 89,900.

Next, there’s the iPhone 15 Pro, the smaller premium smartphone from Apple with a titanium mid-frame, USB-C with faster data transfer speeds, and a triple camera setup. It carries a price tag of Rs 134,900.

Finally, there’s the best of Apple—the iPhone 15 Pro Max, a big premium iPhone with a one-of-a-kind 5x optical telephoto lens. Apple has doubled the storage to 256 GB on the base variant, making it the most expensive device with a starting price of Rs 1,59,900.

Upgrading from an iPhone?

If you’re already an iPhone user, upgrading to an iPhone 15 series is a straightforward task. Depending on your current device, you can simply consider its successor. However, if you have accessories that work on the Lightning connector, you might need to buy an additional USB-C to the Lightning connector from Apple to make it compatible with the iPhone 15 series.

For example, an iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 user can opt for an iPhone 15. Similarly, they can also choose the iPhone 15 Plus for just Rs 10,000 more, which offers a larger display and better battery life.

If you’re an iPhone 11 Pro, 12 Pro, or 13 Pro user, the easiest choice is to go with the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. However, if you want the best camera iPhone, then we suggest sticking to the flagship iPhone 15 Pro Max, the only iPhone with a 5x optical telephoto lens.

Moreover, for those seeking the best possible iPhone, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is again the right choice. If you’re already an iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max user, the iPhone 15 series might not offer much of an upgrade, especially in terms of practicality.

Upgrading from an Android phone?

If you’re coming from the Android world, choosing the right iPhone 15 model could be a bit of a hassle. However, there is one advantage: you can continue to use your Android USB-C accessories like wired earphones, power banks, portable storage devices, and more directly with the iPhone 15 series.

For example, if you’re switching from a Samsung flagship like the S21 Ultra or the S22 Ultra, then the best choice will be either the iPhone 15 Pro or the iPhone 15 Pro Max, as these are the only iPhones with a 120Hz ProMotion display, while the entry-level models offer a 60Hz screen.

Similarly, for someone switching from an Android flagship from brands like OnePlus, Vivo, iQOO, or even the non-ultra Samsung Galaxy S series phones, the iPhone 15 seems like an enticing option, especially with its price tag, which is more than 50 per cent cheaper than the Pro Max.

This year, the beauty of the iPhone 15 lies in its bright display with Dynamic Island, a 48 MP primary camera with support for 2x lossless zoom, and a USB-C port, although the data transfer speeds are limited to USB 2.0.
