Update: An official statement from KRAFTON says, “Currently, the closed test track for BGMI is updated. Those who opted for a public test for the game before its launch are expected to get a message which takes them to play store for downloading the game. However, the link wont work and the game cannot be downloaded as the servers have been shut. We also understand that some other users who had not opted for the closed test are also getting this message. This is a technical error and we are working on resolving it.”

Just a few days after confirming its comeback, Krafton’s Indianized version of PUBG Mobile, BGMI, is now available for Android users.  However, as of now, the game is yet to be made available on the Apple App Store, hence, iPhone and iPad BGMI players have to wait for a while.

While you can download the game on your Android device, BGMI servers are currently unavailable hence, one cannot play the game yet.

Back in August 2022, PUBG Mobile was first banned in India, along with 117 other Chinese apps, by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). Krafton, the publisher of PUBG Mobile, then worked with the authorities to relaunch the game as BGMI with India-specific changes, but it was banned again just a few months after the relaunch.

Krafton has once again worked with the Indian Government for the relaunch of BGMI in India. This time around, the game developer has three months during which the authorities will be keeping an eye on the game. Krafton has even agreed to make several changes, including changing the blood colour from red to green.

If the game violates any of the norms set by the government, BGMI is likely to be banned again.

Currently, there are two ways to download BGMI officially in India. One can either download the app and sideload it on an Android smartphone or tablet. Alternatively, users can directly download the game from the Google Play Store, which is the recommended method. The game is approximately 750 MB in size, and with all the in-game content, BGMI could easily take up over 3 GB of storage space on your phone.
