Apple has reportedly started shipping the Vision Pro ‘in small quantities to warehouses across the US before distribution to Apple retail stores,’ as suggested by a report from Bloomberg. According to the same report, Apple will have sufficient supply of its inaugural VR headset across the US and is likely to officially launch it in February.

Retail stores throughout the US have already been reported to be in preparation mode, with store employees said to have received training on how to handle and operate the Vision Pro.

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg also suggests that Apple could announce the Vision Pro ‘in a week or so,’ potentially around CES 2024, an event in which Apple has never participated. The headset is expected to be available for online pre-order immediately after the launch. Buyers might then need to visit an Apple store to pick up their device, where Apple could provide a demo to all purchasers, helping users understand this brand-new product, its functionalities, and some of the prominent features available on the Apple Vision Pro VR headset.

Apple first showcased the Vision Pro at WWDC 2023. Priced at $3,499 (approximately Rs 3,00,000), the first VR headset from the company is powered by the in-house M2 chip, which also powers devices like the MacBook Air and iPad Pro. The Vision Pro features two high-resolution 4K eyepieces and is powered by an external battery pack, enabling users to experience an enhanced virtual reality experience by utilising multiple battery packs. The headset runs on custom VisionOS with support for 3D content playback (Spatial videos).

Initially, the Vision Pro will be limited to markets such as the US, with the company expected to expand the availability of the headset to more markets in the coming days.
