Apple has officially launched the iPhone 17, its latest and most affordable smartphone in the iPhone 17 series. The latest from the Cupertino-based tech giant comes with a new ProMotion display and an upgraded 48MP primary camera.
Powered by the A19 chip, the iPhone 17 comes with a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display that offers up to 3,000 nits of brightness and Ceramic Shield 2, which it says offers 3x better scratch resistance. Apple also added support for ProMotion, which makes scrolling and viewing content smoother than before and Always-on Display.
The iPhone 17 also comes with a new Center Stage front camera, the first square front camera sensor on iPhone. The new sensor not only offers a wider field of view but also captures more detail. Another thing to note here is that users will no longer have to rotate their iPhone to take a landscape selfie. It also brings support for ultra-stabilised video in 4K HDR.
It comes with a new 48MP Fusion Main camera, which Apple says comes with “an integrated optical-quality 2x Telephoto”. Compared to the previous generation, Apple says the new sensor offers up to four times more resolution.
The iPhone 17 comes with iOS 26 out of the box and can charge up to 50 minutes in just 20 minutes using the company’s new high-wattage 40W Dynamic Power Adapter. Unlike the base variant of the iPhone 16, which came with 128GB of storage, the iPhone 17 comes with 256GB of storage. It comes in five colourways – black, lavender, mist blue, sage and white.
iPhone 17 starts at $799, which roughly translates to Rs 80,000 and will be available for purchase September 19 onwards.
