A few months ago, Apple started rolling out iOS 26 alongside the iPhone 17 series. The tech giant’s latest operating system for iPhones introduced a new design language called “Liquid Glass” and added a ton of other visual and functional changes. Now, first rumours about what to expect from iOS 27 are making rounds on the internet.
According to a new report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, iOS 27 will focus on bringing “quality improvements and artificial intelligence features.” This is pretty similar to what the tech giant did back in 2009 with its “Snow Leopard” update, which also focused on refining the user experience and fixing bugs.
While not many users have reported having problems with the new iOS 26, some have complained about overheating, battery drain and other visual and connectivity glitches. The report goes on to say that with iOS 27, Apple’s engineering teams have now turned their attention to fixing bugs and “boost performance and overall quality.”
Gurman also says that the upcoming iOS version will bring some new AI features, an area where the tech giant seems to be falling behind the competition. At the moment, not much is known, but speculations suggest iOS 27 will bring a health-focused AI agent and add AI-powered web search. By focusing more on stability and performance enhancements, it looks like Apple is preparing the software for its first-ever foldable iPhone, which is rumoured to make its appearance in September next year.
The company is also said to be working on a ChatGPT and Gemini-like AI chatbot. Dubbed “Answer Engine”, the AI chatbot is reportedly being developed by a newly formed team called Answers, Knowledge and Information. Apple is expected to unveil iOS 27 at its annual developers conference, which usually takes place in June, which is likely to be followed by a public beta a month later.
