Meta’s Threads is adding support for rich link previews on Apple iMessage, giving users a glimpse of the content from a Threads post within the messages app.

The rich link preview of Threads post on iMessage includes information such as the user’s name, the profile picture of the author, and a text preview of the post. This feature is based on the standard meta tag included within the post’s HTML code, and it appears that Apple has also whitelisted Threads as a legitimate social media platform to enable the same feature on iMessage.

Not just iMessage, Google Messages also supports rich link previews for Threads posts, offering a streamlined user experience across the platforms.

Apple is currently present on all the major social media platforms, including X, previously known as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. However, the company is yet to open an account on Threads, the latest microblogging social media platform by Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta. Nevertheless, Phil Schiller, an Apple Fellow, has an official account, indicating that Apple might arrive on Threads in the near future.

Threads by Instagram received an overwhelming response and attracted over 100 million sign-ups within a few days of its official launch. However, since then, there has been a drastic decline in the user base. The company is currently focused on stabilizing the platform and retaining the user base by adding new features and capabilities to compete against Elon Musk’s X.
