Airtel, Jio, Vi introduce updated call and SMS-only recharge plans

These new plans by Airtel, Jio, and Vi are supposed to be cheaper and offer more value for money.

Following the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI)’s mandate to introduce voice and SMS-only recharge plans, Airtel, Jio, and Vi have launched new vouchers that are more cost-effective compared to regular recharge plans bundled with data benefits.

Introduced a few days ago, both Airtel and Jio have further revised these value plans, which are currently under review by TRAI. Below are the details of the new recharge plans introduced by Airtel and Jio without data benefits. With the introduction of these plans, both Airtel and Jio discontinued some of their value plans which included data benefits.

Airtel’s new voice and SMS-only recharge plans

Airtel’s Rs 1,849 recharge plan

This annual recharge plan from Airtel comes with 365 days of validity, offering unlimited calling and 3,600 SMS for the entire validity period. The effective cost of this plan is Rs 5.06 per day.

Airtel’s Rs 469 recharge plan

This plan offers 84 days of validity with unlimited calling and 900 SMS for the entire period. The effective cost of this plan is Rs 5.58 per day.

Jio’s new voice and SMS-only recharge plans

Jio’s Rs 1,748 recharge plan

This plan is slightly more affordable than Airtel’s, offering a validity of 336 days with unlimited calling and 3,600 SMS for the entire period. Additional benefits include JioCinema access (base tier). The effective cost of this plan is Rs 5.20 per day.

Jio’s Rs 448 recharge plan

This plan offers 84 days of validity, unlimited calling, and 1000 SMS. It also provides access to select Jio services, including JioTV, JioCinema, and JioCloud. The effective cost of this plan is Rs 5 per day, making it the most affordable among similar plans.

Vi’s new voice and SMS-only recharge plans

Vi’s Rs 1,460 recharge plan

This plan offers 270 days of validity with unlimited calling and 100 SMS daily. Additional messages are priced at Re 1 for local and Rs 1.5 for STD. The effective cost of this plan is Rs 5.41 per day.
