Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator gets new tools and AI powered features

Adobe is adding numerous Firefly AI powered features like Generative Shape Fill and Generate Image to Illustrator and Photoshop. Here's a quick look at some of them.

Adobe is rolling out several new generative AI-powered features to Illustrator and Photoshop. Powered by the company’s in-house developed Firefly AI model, the new features help “accelerate everyday creative workflows and give creators more control.”

Adobe Illustrator, the vector-based design and drawing program now has a new feature called “Generative Shape Fill” that allows users to type in what they want in a shape and have it drawn and fill it in using generative AI. The new Firefly AI model improves the Text to Pattern feature, which can be used to generate customised scalable vector patterns and Style Reference, which helps users generate outputs that look like existing styles.

Adobe also introduced a new Dimension tool that lets you automate sizing information for projects alongside a new Mockup feature to preview the design of 3D products and a Retype tool to convert static text in images into editable content.

As for Photoshop, the Generate Image feature is now powered by the latest Firefly 3 Model, which is currently available on the desktop and web versions of the app. The company says the existing Enhance Detail functionality now has “greater sharpness and detail” when applied to large images. The Selection Brush tool that lets you select and separate specific objects from the canvas by simply painting over them is now available to all.

Earlier this year, Adobe introduced a new generative AI-powered assistant to Reader and Acrobat, which helps users generate summaries and get insights from long documents, clean information and answer questions.

‘Unfortunate’: SC slams reports suggesting ‘pilot error’ led to Air India crash

The Supreme Court Monday issued notice on a plea seeking an independent and expeditious investigation into the June 12, 2025, crash of an Air India Boeing Dreamliner in Ahmedabad, which killed 260 people. The bench also termed as “unfortunate” media reports which indicated that “pilot error” was to blame for the crash, purportedly quoting some preliminary findings by the AAIB.
