Meta-owned social media platform Instagram is adding some new features to direct messages. While some of them might not be new, the social media platform says it is making them more accessible by letting people use them without having to leave the messaging interface.

According to a recent report by The Verge, Instagram users will now be able to access the sticker maker from the DM interface, allowing users to use a photo from the library and use the cutout of an object to create a reaction sticker. This is similar to what WhatsApp introduced earlier this year.

Instagram users can also add stickers or draw over a photo before they send it to a friend. Until now, users could only do this by heading over to the Stories composer, saving the image on their device and then sending it as a message.

The platform introduced another feature that lets users create a note on their birthday. If your followers tap on this note, they will see a cake effect along with confetti animation on the screen. Meta also added some new chat themes like “Fall” and “Sabrina Carpenter”.

A few days ago, Instagram added a new feature that aims to increase engagement by letting users leave comments on Stories. Last month, the social media platform was testing a new profile layout that may disrupt the classic grid and added an option that lets you add a song to your profile page.
