Samsung has announced that it will roll out Android 6 Marshmallow update for Galaxy S6 and S6 edge and other Galaxy devices will follow soon. Samsung says it will make separate announcements on details of OS updates schedule for each market, according to market situation and carriers’ requirements.
Samsung is providing new features for the enhanced edge screen in the Android M update. Another post by Samsung gives details of what these new features in the edge screen will include.
For starters, Samsung has widened the edge screen experience to 550 pixels from 260 pixels, thus enabling more content to be displayed. The edge display will now show contact names below the photographs (earlier it was just the photo), and a shortcut to the settings menu has been included.
The bigger screen space for edge means users can now add ten apps instead of five, and also add entire folders. Samsung has also included a brand new Quick tools, which includes a ruler, compass and customisable flashlight, in a separate panel.
Android M includes new features like Google Now on Tap, a Doze mode to improve battery life, better privacy controls over apps and what permissions they get access to, the new Android Pay and Nexus fingerprint scanner.
