Samsung is launching two new Galaxy A series smartphones on March 11 in India with “flagship features, premium design, and powerful performance.” The company via a post on X has revealed the product names — Galaxy A35 and the Galaxy A55, which are confirmed to offer several upgrades over their predecessors.
According to the press note, the upcoming Galaxy A series smartphones will feature a premium design. Leaks indicate that the Galaxy A55 will feature a metal frame, similar to the recently announced Galaxy S24 series (review) of smartphones, while the Galaxy A35 will continue to offer a plastic frame. The brand has also confirmed that both devices will offer an IP67 rating, and they will have stronger glass protection than Gorilla Glass 5, indicating they are likely to feature Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
Additionally, Samsung has also confirmed that these phones will be equipped with a “powerful processor.” As per the leaks, the Galaxy A55 will be powered by the Exynos 1480 SoC and the Galaxy A35 is also expected to feature the same processor. Both phones are expected to offer at least 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage.
According to a recent leak by @evleaks, both smartphones will include a triple rear-camera setup reminiscent of their predecessors. While the Galaxy A55 is suggested to include a 50 MP main camera, 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 5 MP macro lens, the Galaxy A35 is said to come with a 50 MP primary camera, 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 5 MP macro lens. While the Galaxy A55 is reported to come with a 32 MP selfie camera, the Galaxy A35 will have a more modest 13 MP selfie camera.
Both phones will come with a 120Hz flat panel AMOLED screen with an optical in-display fingerprint sensor, and they are said to include a bigger 5,000 mAh battery. Like recently launched Galaxy smartphones, the retail box is very unlikely to include a charging brick.
The upcoming Galaxy A series of smartphones is confirmed to get five years of software support. Considering the company’s current policy, the Galaxy A35 and the Galaxy A55 are likely to receive four generations of Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates. And these smartphones are most likely to ship with Android 14-based OneUI 6 skin on top.
