For the longest time, Redmi phones were seen as the flagbearer of the mid-range smartphone market. However, over the years, Redmi-branded phones have seen a spike in prices. The latest Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is no different. In fact, it appears to be a mid-range phone but comes with features that put it in a different category altogether. I got my hands on the Redmi Note 13 Pro+, and here are my early impressions. Redmi Note 13 Pro+ price in India: Rs 29,999 onwards. Design and aesthetics The design of the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is drastically different from any other smartphone in the series, especially the leather variant that I have been testing. While it tends to get dirty, thanks to its IP68 rating, I can just run it underwater, and the phone will be back to its glory. The Fusion Purple variant of the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is more fun to look at when compared to the Fusion Black. Also, the leather back panel restored my confidence in using this phone without a case. However, does the faux leather wear off in the long run? Time has to answer. The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is also the first in the series to include a curved display, which elevates the look and feel of the device to the next level with thin bezels on all corners, and I also appreciate Xiaomi for finally including an in-display fingerprint sensor, instead of a side-mounted one. Performance When it comes to performance, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+, just like its predecessors, offers best-in-class performance. Due to its price, it may not be the most powerful smartphone that money can buy. However, the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Ultra is a great chip, which handles most day-to-day tasks and even heavy gaming without any issue. The phone offers MIUI 14, albeit based on the previous Android 13 OS, and the smartphone is confirmed to receive HyperOS update in the coming days. Camera The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ has a 200 MP optically stabilised sensor, which takes great shots in almost every lighting condition. There is also an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2 MP macro lens. While it does lack a dedicated telephoto lens, the main sensor takes lossless 2x in-sensor zoomed-in pictures, and even images taken using 4x (digital) magnification look sharp, especially in daylight situations. Wait for my review for an in-depth look at the phone’s camera. Battery The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ packs a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging, which can fully charge the smartphone in less than 25 minutes. It is one of the fastest-charging smartphones that I have used so far. I am still evaluating the battery performance of the phone and will report on the same in my full review. Early impressions The features and the price of the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ make it very evident that the company is aiming at users who want a smartphone that's not just practical, but a device that has a host of unique features, which are mostly seen on high-end smartphones costing upwards of Rs 50,000. Stay tuned for our detailed review of the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ in the coming days, which should help you decide if the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is for you.
