Chhota Shakeel’s brother Anwar, drug lord Salim Dola among 19 named in chargesheet
According to the police Electricwala was allegedly paid Rs 50 lakhs by a gang linked to Dawood Ibrahim to manufacture mephedrone, which he failed to deliver.
Electricwala, who had been abducted by the gang, on the other hand has claimed that he was paid the money to purchase some properties.
THE MUMBAI crime branch Thursday filed a chargesheet against 14 persons and named four persons, including gangster Chhota Shakeel’s brother, Anwar, and druglord Salim Dola, as wanted accused in a case related to the alleged abduction of one Sajid Electricwala and his aide on June 13.
According to police, Electricwala was allegedly paid Rs 50 lakh by a gang linked to Dawood Ibrahim to manufacture mephedrone, which he failed to deliver. Police eventually rescued him on July 16 from Uttar Pradesh. The accused claimed that they abducted Electricwala as neither did he provide the drugs nor did he return the money. Police charged the accused under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

A senior official said, “A chargesheet was filed against 14 persons who were arrested and four wanted accused. Those wanted include Salim Dola, who handles the drug network of Dawood gang, and Anwar Shaikh, younger brother of Chhota Shakeel, aide of Dawood. The accused have been charged under MCOCA. Dola is suspected to be holed up in Turkey and oversees the gang’s drug network in India.”
The official added that the case shines a light on how underworld gangs are now entering the lucrative mephedrone business. “The gangs are pumping in money to people who have the technical expertise to manufacture mephedrone,” the official said.
An officer said that the accused claimed that they had paid Rs 50 lakh to Sajid Electricwala, who was earlier arrested by Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) for the production of mephedrone, which was not delivered eventually. Electricwala, who was abducted by the gang, claimed that he was paid the money to purchase some properties.
Electricwala, along with his aide, was allegedly abducted on June 13 by a team of seven people and beaten up in a farmhouse in Raigad. While Electricwala’s aide managed to escape within two days, the accused kept moving Electricwala to various states. He was rescued by teams from the Mumbai crime branch from Banda in UP, following which seven arrests were made. The accused are now in police custody.
