The company has confirmed that OnePlus, realme and SHARP will be the first set of OEMs to launch smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 in the coming months.
Compared to the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, which powered devices like the Poco F5 (review), the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 offers 15 per cent higher CPU performance and up to a 45 per cent improvement in GPU performance. On top of that, this is also the first 7 series chip from the company to support Wi-Fi 7 with HBS (High Band Simultaneous) Multi-Link technology that enables unparalleled internet usage experience.
Just like the recently announced Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 is capable of running popular large language models such as Baichuan-7B, Llama 2, Gemini Nano and Zhipu ChatGLM on the device, enabling various generative AI experiences like image generation, and virtual assistants.

“Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 is packed with support for incredible on-device generative AI features and provides incredible performance and power efficiency while bringing Wi-Fi 7 to the Snapdragon 7 Series for the first time,” said Chris Patrick, senior vice president and general manager of mobile handsets, Qualcomm Technologies.
Gaming is also another highlight of the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, which now supports Snapdragon Elite Gaming features such as Game Post Processing Accelerator and Adreno Frame Motion Engine 2 to upscale and enhance the gaming performance, and the company claims that these features will enable a smartphone with 7+ Gen 3 chip to deliver desktop-like visuals while gaming, but it does lack ray-tracing support.
The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 consists of an octa-core CPU cluster with one prime core based on Cortex-X4 with 2.8 GHz clock speed, four high-performance cores with a clock speed of 2.6 GHz, and three efficiency cores with up to 1.9 GHz clock speed. It includes Qualcomm Hexagon NPU for AI tasks, and Adreno GPU, which can drive up to 4K resolution display at 60Hz or a QHD+ resolution screen at 120Hz and can output up to 8K resolution at 30fps to an external display.
The processor comes with the same Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 Mobile Connectivity System as the latest Snapdragon 8 series processor that enables Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 wireless technologies. In terms of camera capabilities, the processor supports up to 108 MP sensors with the ability to capture up to 200 MP images along with 4K HDR video recording capability with up to 60fps.
The processor supports the latest UFS 4.0-type storage with up to 24 GB of LPDDR5x RAM with up to 4200 MHz clock speed. The Snapdragon X63 5G Modem-RF System helps the chip deliver up to 4.2 Gbps download speed over 5G with support for both mmWave and sub-6 GHz networks.
