(Image Source: @evleaks/X)Following in Apple’s footsteps, Chinese phone maker Oppo has confirmed that it will be adding a “Camera control” like button to the much anticipated Find X8. Like the iPhone 16, the new button, dubbed “Quick Capture” is placed on the right side of the phone
The news comes from Oppo’s Find series product manager, Zhou Yibao, who demoed the new button in a video posted on the popular social media platform Weibo. In the video, you can see that the new capacitive button works similarly to the ones on the iPhone 16 series.
Users can double-tap on it to open the Camera app, long press to capture photos and even swipe it sideways to control zoom levels. Yibao says that the new “Quick Capture” button can even be used to click photos underwater, which is useful since most displays do not respond to touches when submerged in water.
Powered by MediaTek’s latest flagship chipset – the Dimensity 9400, the Oppo Find X8 is said to pack a 6.5-inch 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED screen. The back of the phone has a huge circular camera island that might house a 50MP primary camera alongside a 50MP ultrawide lens and a 50MP Sony LYT-600 telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom support.
On the battery front, the upcoming phone will reportedly pack a 5,700mAh battery with 80W fast charging support and might also get the alert slider. According to known tipster @evleaks, the Oppo Find X8 will be available in four colourways – black, blue, pink and white. Rumour also has it that the phone will run on ColorOS 15.0 based on Android 15 out of the box, making it one of the first phones to get the latest Android version.
Apart from the Find X8, Oppo might also launch the Find X8 Pro, the Oppo Pad 3 Pro, the Oppo Watch X and the Oppo Enco X3 wireless earbuds. All products are expected to be launch in China on October 24.
