Reports coming from China claim the phone could launch on May 5 in Shenzhen itself. If this is true, we can expect a global launch around the same period as well. The OnePlus 6 will likely be Amazon exclusive in India when it launches, given the previous versions of the phone were also limited to the site. OnePlus also has some offline experience stores and its own e-commerce platform where the phone will be sold.
OnePlus will allow users to 'hide' the notch by blacking out the parts of the screen. In a detailed blog post, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau had explained that the flagship phone will come with an option to hide the notch of the display. He wrote in his blog post, "Recently many users have raised interest in having a black-out function. We respect your feedback, and would like to give everyone the ability to choose. This function will enable you to black out the background of the notifications and status bar. It will be added in a future software update released after the launch of the OnePlus 6".
In a detailed blog post, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau had explained the decision of the company to go ahead with the notch and how it will impact user experience on the phone. He wrote in his blog post, "t’s easy to get caught up in a debate on aesthetics, but to us this decision was simply about pursuing optimal phone design. Being able to offer more screen without compromising on size or performance is a great benefit." OnePlus says the notch will not cut-off notificiations as OxygenOS will be optimised for this feature.
Will OnePlus 6 offer something more on the sound front? That remains unclear for now. It also remains to be seen if the OnePlus 6 will be water and dust resistant. Most flagship phones comes with IP68 orIP67 rating now and this has been an area where the OnePlus 6 has lagged behind. It also remains to be seen how OxygenOS is customised, especially now that there is a notch on the front.

Battery on the OnePlus 6 is expected to be 3450 mAh, which is similar to the Oppo R15 that was recently launched in China. The new flagship phone will also continue with the same Dash Charging support.

Here's a quick look at three major differences between the upcoming OnePlus 6 and the future OnePlus 5T:
1) The notch is the major change, which will be hard to miss. OnePlus also says that OxygenOS will be customised to work with the notch.
2) OnePlus 6 will have 8GB RAM and 256 GB variant, which is the first for the company. OnePlus 5T only came in 6GB /8GB RAM options with 64GB and 128GB storage respectively.
3) OnePlus 6 will likely have a vertically placed rear camera, and not a horizontal one, like the previous OnePlus 5T.
Image renders of the OnePlus 6 have been leaked on China's Weibo, which indicate a Blue coloured variant could be on its way. Previously the OnePlus 5T launched in a Midnight Black, Soft Gold and later on a Lava Red colour variant.
OnePlus 6 prices for India, US and Europe have been leaked online as well. The report on TrueTech claims the 64GB storage version of OnePlus 6 will be priced around Rs 33,999 to Rs 36,999. OnePlus 6 with 128GB storage variant will have a Rs 38,999 to Rs 42,999 price. OnePlus 6 Premium, which is the 8GB RAM+256GB model will cost Rs 44,999 to Rs 48,999. We will have to wait and see if OnePlus 6 crosses the Rs 50,000 price mark in India when it launches.
OnePlus 6 will continue with its USP of offering the best specifications, but at a more affordable pricing. The phone will use the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. It will have a 6GB and 8GB RAM variant. There will be options for 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage. OnePlus phones do not have a microSD slot and the trend will likely continue with the OnePlus 6 as well.
