Lava has launched a new budget smartphone, A79 in India. The smartphone joins A72, A76, A89 in the A series budget smartphones.

Lava says A79 is an entertainment-centric smartphone with big 5.5-inch display and powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor coupled with 1GB RAM.

Lava A79 comes with 8GB on-board storage which is further expandable to 32GB. Lava A79 is a 3G smartphone running Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Lava A79 comes with a 5MP rear camera with flash and HDR support. The front 2MP camera is also equipped with flash to capture selfies even in low-light.

Lava says A79 comes with a new feature called Smart Screenshot which allows users to take screenshot of scrolling webpages of text messages inside any chat application. Vivo already offers a similar feature called long screenshot with its S-capture mode.

Lava A79 is backed by a 2200mAh battery and will be available in gold and grey colour variants. The smartphone, priced at Rs 5,699 will be available with 1 year manufacturer warranty.
