(Image credit: RIL)Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has introduced yet another budget 4G feature phone — JioPhone Prima 2, powered by a Qualcomm chip with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. Compared to its predecessor, the JioPhone Prima 2 is capable of making direct video calls without any third-party app.
The latest 4G phone from Jio priced at Rs 2,799, has a candy bar-style design with an easy-to-replace 2,000 mAh battery. The device has two cameras, one at the back and a selfie camera at the front, which can be used for video calls and also to take selfies.
As it runs on KaiOS, it comes with apps like YouTube, Google Assistant, Facebook, JioPay with support for UPI payments, JioCinema, and JioChat. The phone misses out on WhatsApp, as Meta recently removed WhatsApp support from KaiOS. The phone also supports 23 different Indian languages.
Other prominent features of the JioPhone Prima 2 include a 2.4-inch display with a curved finish, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microSD card slot, an LED torch, and support for FM radio.
Like every other variant of the JioPhone, the Prima 2 is only compatible with the Jio network (limited to 4G). Jio offers special recharge plans for JioPhones, starting at Rs 91 for 28 days with 100MB of data per day with unlimited calling. There are also other JioPhone plans such as the Rs 152 plan, which offers half a GB of 4G data per day for 28 days, and there is also an annual plan (336 validity) priced at Rs 895, which offers 2GB data per 28 days.
