Google’ Rummus’ tablet with Android 7.1 Nougat appears on Geekbench

An unknown device by the name of ‘Google Rammus’ has appeared in a GeekBench listing. First spotted by tipster Roland Quandt, the mystery device is seen running on Android 7.1 Nougat with 4GB RAM and is powered by an Intel Core m3-8100Y processor.

Given that Android 7.1 Nougat and Intel Core m3-8100Y processor are quite old, it’s being said that the device could be an older variant of the Pixel Slate tablet. Another theory suggests the tablet could be a low-cost version of the Pixel Slate tablet which could be announced soon.

Although the Geekbench listing suggests the tablet is running on Android 7.1 Nougat, in reality, the Pixel Slate is powered by Google’s Chrome OS. At the moment, we do know have much information about the tablet, code-named “Google Rammus”. We expect more details to surface in the coming days.

The Pixel Slate tablet was announced, alongside the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones at the company’s big-ticket event in New York earlier this month. The tablet, which runs on Chrome OS, competes with Microsoft’s Surface Pro 6 and Apple’s iPad Pro. The premium 2-in-1 offers 10 hours of battery life and comes in multiple configurations. It also features a high-resolution LCD display, dual front-firing speakers, and an 8MP front and back cameras, and a fingerprint scanner. It has an integrated Google Assistant and Titan security chipset. The device supports the $99 PixelBook Stylus.

The Pixel Slate tablet works with the new Pixel Slate keyboard too, which costs an additional $199. Google Pixel Slate starts at $599 (or approximately Rs 43,000) for the base version and will be made available for purchase in the US from next month.
