On Monday, at its flagship hardware launch event held at Apple Park, Apple introduced its latest flagship smartphones - iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max. With these new devices, Apple is further differentiating the Pro and non-pro iPhones by introducing two new screen sizes, a 6.3-inch screen on the iPhone 16 Pro and a massive 6.9-inch screen on the iPhone 16 Pro Max, the biggest iPhone that Apple has ever produced. Both variants spearhead this year's iPhone 16 series and are powered by the latest A18 Pro chip, which enables Apple Intelligence and AAA gaming. Available in multiple colour options, the price of the iPhone 16 Pro starts at Rs 1,19,900, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max costs 1,44,900. Both models are already up for pre-order and will go on sale starting September 20. CEO Tim Cook calls the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max "the first set of iPhones designed from the ground up for Apple intelligence and its breakthrough capabilities." Just like their predecessors, these are premium iPhones made from high-end materials such as titanium frame and an improved Ceramic Shield glass, which also protects the display at the front from scratches and accidental damage. The iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max still have a triple camera setup with a 48 MP primary wide-angle lens (2nd generation quad-pixel sensor) along with a new 48 MP ultra-wide angle lens and a 12 MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, and these are also the first set of iPhones that support 4K video recording with up to 120fps. The iPhone 16 Pro Max also has the biggest battery ever featured on an iPhone and delivers the best battery life on an iPhone, although the company has not disclosed the exact battery size. Just like the base models, the iPhone 16 Pro series also gets a new camera shutter button called Camera Control, which will get updated to support two-stage capture with an upcoming software update. Powered by the new A18 Pro chip, the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max get exclusive Apple Intelligence features, which will run 15 per cent faster than the iPhone 15 Pro, powered by the A17 Pro chip. A18 Pro is a 3nm processor, which includes a new 16-core neural engine, a six-core GPU, and a six-core CPU, consisting of four performance cores and two efficiency cores, and Apple calls it the fastest CPU on any smartphone, capable of handling on-device AI tasks and AAA gaming.
