Reliance has announced JioBook, a new laptop powered by the company’s JioOS. The 4G-enabled device is aimed at students and offers access to educational content via the JioTV app.
JioBook sports a matte finish and weighs only 990 grams. It is powered by the MediaTek MT 8788 processor and features an 11.6-inch anti-glare HD screen. The laptop has 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, which can be expanded up to 256GB using the microSD card slot.
The keyboard stretches from one edge of the device to the other and has a large trackpad that can come in handy when using gestures. The device also comes with JioBIAN, a Linux-based coding software that supports a wide variety of coding languages like Perl, Python, Java, C/C++ and more.
You also get 100GB of free cloud storage on DigiBoxx, one year of Quick Heal antivirus protection with parental controls and allows users to play games on the cloud via JioGames. Reliance has also brought over more than 75 shortcuts like select all, copy, paste, undo, go to desktop and more from Windows over to the JioBook, making it easy for users to switch over from a Windows-based machine.
The JioBook comes with an HD webcam, supports wireless scanning and printing and can be connected to an external display. On the connectivity front, you get 2 USB ports, 1 mini-HDMI port, a headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.0 and 4G and dual-band Wi-Fi. It is backed by a 4,000mAh battery which Reliance claims can last around 8 hours and packs stereo speakers.
JioBook is priced at Rs 16,499 and will go on sale on Amazon and Reliance Digital stores from August 5.
