Google has introduced an Updates page, which it calls a new destination in the Photos app which makes it easier for users to catch up on new activities in shared albums. The new section will let users see notifications such as updates to shared albums and conversations within Google Photos.
In simple words, when you get a new shared album, you will be able to see if someone adds new photos and replies to you in conversations in the Updates section. It will also feature updates from group conversations, partner sharing updates, memory updates, and storage updates.
Users can access Updates by tapping on the bell icon which will soon replace the Sharing button. In this section, updates will be shown chronologically and users will be able to see activity from today, yesterday, this week, this month, last month, and beyond.
“We want to streamline how you can view recent activity with an interface that makes albums, groups, and conversations more accessible. We have also added shortcuts for each activity so you can access albums and conversations, all under one roof,” said Google Photos Team’s Rebbeca V in a post on the Google Support page.
Google has also said that if users want to access shared albums they can get it from the Collections section. Collections is the newly launched destination to make it easy to find content. Essentially, it is a collection of all albums in one place and will have both private albums and those shared with other users.
The Updates page is currently being rolled out on Android and iOS Google Photos apps.
