Microsoft has announced that the beta version of the Xbox Cloud Gaming app is now available on Meta’s Quest VR headsets, allowing users to enjoy known titles like Starfield, Forza Motorsport and Fallout 4 on a big screen.
Compatible with Quest 2, Quest 3 and Quest Pro, the feature requires an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, which costs Rs 549 monthly. Head to the Meta Quest Store and install the Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) app on your headset to get started.
To play Xbox titles on their VR headsets, users must update their software to the latest version and pair a compatible controller. It currently works with Xbox, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch Pro controllers, but Microsoft says Xbox Cloud Gaming will add support for PlayStation 5 controllers in the future.
Microsoft says hundreds of popular titles like Starfield, Forza Motorsport, Zombie Army 4: Dead War and others available in the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate library are compatible with Meta Quest headsets. While games can run without pairing the device with the console, the app shows them on a large virtual 2D screen, with Meta allowing users to choose between four different screen sizes.
Meta Quest 3 and Quest Pro users can also see their physical surroundings using the stereoscopic full-colour Passthrough feature. The move to bring the Xbox Cloud Gaming app to Meta’s VR headset lineup is part of a partnership between the two tech giants, with Microsoft also planning to bring Teams, Windows and Office to the VR headsets.
