Capcom announces Street Fighter 6: Here’s everything you need to know

Street Fighter 6 will bring several new game modes and seems to have simplified controls for new players.

If you grew up in the 90s, you must have heard Street Fighter. Recently, Capcom recently launched a free playable demo of its upcoming title – Street Fighter 6. Scheduled to launch on PC and console on June 2 this year, here’s everything we know about the game.

Street Fighter 6 demo

A few days ago, Capcom released a Street Fighter 6 demo for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners. If you own an Xbox or a PC, the demo will be available for download on April 26.

Street Fighter 6 supported platforms

The game developers have confirmed that Street Fighter 6 will be available to play on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC and the Xbox Series X/S. While the developers have no plans to support Xbox One, Capcom has confirmed that the upcoming title will be cross-platform compatible.

Street Fighter 6 gameplay

Set in a fictional developing nation named Nayshall somewhere in Asia, the latest from Capcom brings a new single-player store mode called World Tour where players will be able to create custom avatars. Talking of World Tour mode, players will encounter enemies who will chase them down the street.

Players can also purchase ‘Flight Tickets’ in the game and travel around the world to find legendary fighters. You can also become their student, learn ‘special moves’ and unlock new cutscenes.

Apart from the much celebrated Versus mode, Street Fighter 6 features Team Battle mode where players can fight against other players by creating a team or indulge in the Extreme Battle mode. The developers have also included numerous RPG elements like consumable items and food that offer various perks and let you earn skill points which can be spent on the skill tree.

In case you are interested in multiplayer battles, head over to the ‘Battle Hub’ where players can fight others using their custom avatars. The game also lets players create a ‘Club’ in the ‘Battle Hub’ where they will be able to find other players, customize club emblems and even design a uniform. Those looking for the competitive aspect can play ‘Ranked Matches’ where you can earn league points to rank up

As it turns out, Capcom is making some major changes to the game controls. If you are getting started with Street Fighter, there is a new ‘modern’ control scheme that eliminates the need to memorize combos and chains. And then there’s the new Real Time commentary feature aimed at making fights more interesting.

Street Fighter 6 roster

Capcom has confirmed the entire Street Fighter 6 lineup ahead of the June 2 launch. While 18 fighters will be available at launch, four fighters – Rashid, A.K.I, Ed and Akuma will be coming as DLC.

Street Fighter 6 pre-order

Street Fighter 6 is currently available for pre-0rder on Steam. While the base version is priced at Rs 3,999, the Deluxe and Ultimate edition can be pre-ordered for Rs 5,999  and Rs 7,599 respectively.
