YU YUPIX, printer for smartphone photos launched; price is Rs 6999

YU YUPIX printer will cost Rs 6999 and will be an Amazon exclusive.

Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma’s Yu Televentures has launched a new portable printer called YUPix compatible with Android and iOS smartphones and priced Rs 6999.

YUPIX is a compact pocket sized printer — like the one LG launched a couple of years ago — primarily for smartphone photos. YU claims the printer has an image transfer speed which is 10 times faster than other pocket printers. Its dimensions are 2.99 x 6.01 x 0.94 inches and it weighs 273gms.

It uses ‘dye sublimation’ printing technology with a resolution of 291 dpi and supports JPEG format. The size of the photo print is 2.1 x 3.4 inch and it can take 10 photos continuously. YU claims the print time is 60 seconds for each picture and YUPIX has a 750 mAh battery.

Connectivity options supported by YUPIX pocket printer are NFC/WiFi Direct/Wifi and users will need to download the app from the Google Play or iOS to take the pics. The YUPIX app also lets users edit photos.

YU also says that YUPIX comes with a unique cartridge which does not require a cleaning roll and has Ink Ribbon and Photo Paper integrated into it. The photos are water and finger-print proof.

YUPIX is available on Amazon.in from September 7 for Rs 6999.
