One of the standout additions is the “recap” capability. The recap allows users to get automated daily digests summarising the key discussions in specified channels. Better yet, Slack AI can even analyse your activity to recommend which busy channels might be worthwhile recap candidates.
Then there’s the AI-powered search, addressing a longtime user pain point. Rather than digging through tangled threads, you can now just ask a conversational question about a topic, and Slack AI will surface relevant messages while providing a helpful summary response.
Perhaps the coolest new feature is the conversation summaries. With a simple click, Slack AI will analyze an entire message thread or channel and automatically generate a high-level recap highlighting crucial details like key takeaways, decisions, action items, and more.
Of course, anytime corporate conversations meet AI, security and privacy questions will inevitably arise. Salesforce is aiming to get ahead of those concerns. They assert that Slack data never leaves the customer’s environment, remaining siloed and unexploited for other purposes like training AI models for other clients.
The AI capabilities rely on large language models hosted in Salesforce’s own virtual private cloud to analyse each company’s unique Slack data. While currently supporting English, Spanish, and Japanese, more languages are on the roadmap.
The Slack AI add-on is available across all paid Slack tiers, from the Pro bundle up to Enterprise plans, at a cost of $10 per user per month. And this is just the beginning. According to Salesforce, upcoming expansions will allow Slack AI to comb through associated files, apps, and other resources for an even richer understanding.
