Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on Wednesday said that if the allegations against him are proven, he’ll hang himself.

“If a single allegation against me is proven, I will hang myself,” said Brij Bhushan.

“It’s been four months. They want me to get hanged. The government is not hanging me and so they are going to immerse their medals in the Ganga,” he said.

“Immersing your medals in the Ganga won’t get me hanged. If you (wrestlers) have any evidence, present it to the Court and I am ready to accept any punishment,” he added.

Earlier, on Tuesday, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh said that the charges against him are already being probed by the Delhi Police.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, the six-time BJP MP said, “The matter is under investigation by the Delhi Police. If there’s any truth to the charges (levelled against him by the wrestlers), an arrest will be made,” the WFI chief added.

“Today, they went to Haridwar to immerse their medals in the Ganga. But later, they handed them to Tikait. It’s their stand, what can we do?” he added.

India’s top wrestlers Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat have deferred their plans to immerse their Olympic and world championship medals in the Ganga. The decision came after a two-hour protest at Haridwar where the tearful wrestlers were persuaded by farm leaders not to take the drastic step.

The wrestlers proceeded to Haridwar after their protest site at Jantar Mantar was cleared out by the police. They have been on a dharna at Jantar Mantar since April 23 demanding the arrest of Wrestling Federation of India president and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh who is accused of sexually harassing women wrestlers. Singh has denied the charges.
