On pitch, Messi helped Miami add their two goals in the second half after Facundo Farias put them in the lead in the first 45. The Barcelona trio came into play in the 51st minute as Messi received the ball from Busquets and teed up Alba inside the box.

The third goal was a counter attack after LA, who had pushed their numbers forward in search of a goal, lost the ball by the midfield line and Messi bursted into the final third before setting up Leonardo Campagna.

“It was a test to see where we stand. It is an important consequence of what is to come, the group is growing more and more every day.” Messi said post-match.
