Grace Harris split a webbing on her left hand while bowling in the WBBL match on Sunday. (Instagram/CA)Australia all-rounder Grace Harris’s “tough as nails” moment from the WBBL 2025 match on Sunday grabbed social media attention after the all-rounder continued to play on with a split webbing.
Bowling while defending a 150-run target against the Adelaide Strikers on Sunday in North Sydney, the Aussie all-rounder injured her non-bowling hand while attempting to stop a shot from England batter Tammy Beaumont in the 10th over; the seam of the bowling ball did the damage.
Almost nonchalantly, Harris informed the umpire that, “It’s my non-bowling hand. So I can tape it up,” signalling out to the dugout for the physio for a quick fix.
“I just need to tape it up and I can keep bowling. It’s no big deal. We’ll just get blood on the ball. We can stitch it up later,” she said, leaving commentators tickled.
"It's split. We'll stitch it after."

Harris would emerge as the pick of the Heat bowlers, snapping up two wickets in four overs for 28 runs. The senior Australia all-rounder, however, could not prevent her side’s six-wicket defeat.
Harris’ gritty episode brought back memories from last season for fans and commentators alike, when she smoked a six with a broken bat. Acknowledging a broken bat while speaking through the microphone to the commentators then, Harris could not usher in a replacement in time, prompting her to continue with the shaky willow.
‘Stuff it, I’ll hit it anyway,” said Harris before tonking the ball with the broken bat over wide long-on for six.
Recovering from a calf strain that kept her out of the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, Harris is preparing to return to India for the 2026 Women’s Premier League. After playing three seasons for the UP Warriorz, she was signed up by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for INR 75 Lakh during the mega auction’s accelerated round last week in New Delhi.
