In a sensational bowling display, Bihar’s Suman Kumar scripted history by taking all 10 wickets in an innings with a hat-trick during the Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy match against Rajasthan on Saturday.
Left-arm spinner Kumar’s marathon spell, comprising figures of 33.5-20-53-10, helped Bihar take the first-innings lead and three points from the drawn game. Rajasthan folded for 187 in reply to Bihar’s 467-run total on the back of first-innings centuries from Dipesh Gupta (183 not out) and Prithvi Raj (128).

Hailing from Bihar’s Samastipur district, Kumar recorded his hat-trick in the 36th over of Rajasthan’s innings, removing Rajasthan’s No. 4, 5 and 6 for ducks. This is the second 10-wicket haul of the ongoing domestic season after Haryan pace Anshul Kamboj recently became only the third bowler to pick all 10 wickets in a Ranji Trophy innings.
After enforcing the follow-on, Kumar rolled down 49 overs in the next innings, conceding 88 runs for one more wicket. In four matches this season, Kumar has snapped up 23 wickets for Bihar, ranking 10th on the wicket-taking charts in the Cooch Behar Trophy season.
