Shardul Thakur bowled an over to forget. It is the over that has turned the game. Captain Cool has done it again he has maintained his cool pulled the game till the end and made de difference in the 19th. Why did Pant not use 4th over of Bishnoi only he can answer. 

MS Dhoni is batting nicely here. Anything in his arc he is swinging it with all he has. This is getting quite a tricky affair here. LSG were in this game but since Dhoni has come they have let things drift away and it is very interesting that Pant is opting to delay Bishnoi as much as possible. It might be just a possibility that if he had used that Bishnoi over earlier maybe he could have picked up one of these two batters' wickets. But as of now it is all about containing the runs. Pant seems to be just have missed the trick with his over-stacking up here in the middle.

LSG has changed the ball here. In the last few overs, the bowlers have been using the towel a lot to keep the ball dry. It is quite late here. It is 11 in the night the over-rate has been pretty slow. The dew seems to have taken its effect. MS Dhoni since walking in has scored a couple of boundaries and looking in good touch. We have seen at times teams in the past have kept an over of spin reserved for Dhoni and Rishabh has the option to use Bishnoi as well. But the question is when is he going to do that? It just might be the thing that might decide which direction this game will go.

That was as good as it gets from Rathi. Both Dube and Shankar were just not reading him and Shankar eventually succumbed to the pressure and played a wild slog the ball lopped up in the air and point inside the ring took a simple catch. This is getting quite messy for CSK. While they are making the same mistake that LSG has made no one is replicating Pant's innings. If someone bats till the end the pace has to be brought back into the attack and there will be some mistakes made which can be punished. But as of now CSK just seems to be missing the trick in the chase here.

Bishnoi is bowling beautifully here today. It is not something he is known to do which is bowl slower through the air and try and beat the batters in the air but off late he has been attempting to do it while it has given mixed results today he has bowled very well. This time he snubbed Ravindra Jadeja who tried to take him over the long-on boundary got beaten in the flight and was caught on the boundary. Vijay Shankar has walked into the middle. This is getting quite tricky for LSG here. Once again it might not seem like it but Pant played an exceptional innings.

Aiden Markram is bowling his third over here. It is quite street-smart from Pant but he also has to make sure he is not overdoing it. Both Jadeja and Dube in the middle are the premium batters for this side and if these two get going it will get quite difficult for LSG to contain them. As of now, both these batters are looking to get themselves in especially Jadeja seems to be given the role of batting till the end of this chase. If that is the case Dube has to keep attacking as we have seen in the first innings it is hard to hit the ball once it gets softer the run-rate has to be always under check as a couple of quiet overs tend to put a lot of pressure.

LSG has picked up a couple of wickets since our last update. First, it was Rachin who tried to sweep the ball and missed it and was given out LBW against Aiden Markram, and then it was Bishnoi who galloped Rahul Tripathi who despite getting dropped could not have made most off. Ravindra Jadeja has walked into the middle early and Shivam Dube has been used as an impact sub. This plays nicely into the hands of Pant as he could use another over of Aiden Markram and that is what he has done. This is getting quite intriguing here this chase.

Tripathi got dropped here in the previous over. It was a googly from Bishnoi which he did read well and tried to hit through the cow corner but seemed like was beaten in the flight and the ball went high in the air. However, Abdul Samad who made the ground dropped a sitter. It has been a season that has not gone well for him so far and opportunities missed like those only add to salt to injuries. However, while LSG would be kicking themselves they have dropped a chance they would be happy that there is something for his spinners on this wicket and he has turned to Markram for a spell.

Lucknow has picked up the wicket here and it is Rasheed. It was a slower one from Avesh Khan which he tried to pull and got beaten in the pace and Nicholas Pooran at mid-on took a simple catch. That is the wicket LSG needed. They have got the opening now and Tripathi has walked into the middle. While he is a decent batter the season so far has not been kind to him. However, if he starts to get going things might go down south for LSG quite quickly as he is a pretty busy player and gets his runs pretty quickly. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see how Rachin will approach this innings. 

Chennai has got to a flier here. The LSG bowlers have not hit their mark here and Chennai openers have cherished the opportunity. Rasheed especially has looked very impressive here. He has looked technically sound and also is playing some positive cricket in the middle. It is important for him to stay calm and make the most of the opportunity he has been presented with. Meanwhile, as per LSG, they have turned to their mystery spinner in Rathi. He has been quite superb in this tournament Rathi and LSG will need another brilliant spell here today.

Shardul Thaker and Akash Deep have taken the new ball here for LSG. We have seen quite a bit of swing and seam moment in the first innings which was due to a bit of moisture on the wicket. However, in this inning, the LSG bowlers will not have the same luxury. However, having said that no one is forcing them to bowl poor deliveries and that is what they are slipping in every other ball. As per Rachin, he played a couple of sublime shots for Super Kings thus far and Rasheed too is looking like a million-dollar batter. They have to make the most of this powerplay do the Chennai Super Kings as it will only get tougher and tougher to bat on this one.

The wicket was very good, the ball wasn't gripping at all as there's dew around. Tried to bowl in good areas, was thinking what the batsman was going to do. Just kept changing my line and length. I knew they were going to play over square or play the reverse sweep, I was keeping that in my mind and bowling accordingly. The wicket is very good, think the bowlers need to be disciplined. The outfield is very quick. They (LSG batters) have been in good rhythm, so I tried to bowl simple and tight lines. I might bat higher today, we just need to play good cricketing shots.

That is a decent score right at the end by LSG. It did seem like CSK would get away with a below-par total and at one stage it even seemed like LSG would not manage more than 140s in this contest. That is a brilliant inning from Pant. He held his nerve and picked his moments to play the big shots and it just might be the smartness that was required after LSG dug themselves into the hole by losing wickets continuously. Now that CSK has seen how difficult it is to go after the bowlers once it is softer they will need good powerplay in the chase do stay with us we will be right back with the chase.

Khaleel came into the bowl the 19th over. Bowling at this stage is not the strength of Khaleel and Pant ahead of what was coming pummeled him one down the track and Abdul Samad hit one through the square leg. This is very crucial inning from Pant when his team was in trouble he stepped up today.

With a couple of crisp sixes against Pathirana Pant has gone past his half-century here in Lucknow. It has been tough to score runs when there is no pace on the ball and Pathirana did the cardinal sign of delivering two pace balls to Pant who was waiting for it and latched onto both of them. Pathirana after going for a couple of sixes has learned his lesson and started to take off the pace. Regardless of whatever LSG gets in this game, it has been a brilliant bowling effort from CSK. All the bowlers maybe apart from Jamie Overton have been top-notch and MS Dhoni has rotated his bowlers nicely.

We have reached the second strategic time out here in Lucknow. The hosts have got themselves into a hole here. This was always expected once the ball gets older and softer the hitting would become tough and that is what is happening in the middle. They needed one set batter which is Pant who too is finding it hard to get the boundaries away and amidst all that LSG is losing wickets from the other end. Which means that Pant has to focus on another partnership. A word on Noor Ahmed as well what a brilliant spell he is bowling. He has looked in rhythm right from ball one.

Well despite all the opportunities Badoni still managed to get himself out. It was a quicker and flatter delivery from Jadeja which he threw after seeing Badoni charging down the track and as anticipated he missed and MS Dhoni did the rest. While he was walking back he was stopped again and surely it cannot happen again and it did not this time. The umpires wanted to check where Dhoni took the ball was it in front of the stumps or behind the stumps thankfully for CSK it was behind and Badoni's nothing innings came to an end. Well, Matheesha Pathriana threw one wide and it was a bumper Badoni trying to play an uppercut and ended up giving the catch to the third man who was finer and placed just to take that catch for that kind of delivery. However, the problem was it was the third bumper of the over and it was given as no-ball instead of wicket. Nevertheless, it has been good bowling from Super Kings. It does seem like they have a few tricks up their sleeve against the LSG batters. As we update Badoni gets away with another one here. He tried to reverse-sweep Jadeja and the ball seemed to hit the pad and was given on-field for LBW however, Badoni reviewed it to find out the ball brushed the glove and the decision was overturned.

Since our last update, Lucknow Super Giants has lost the wicket of Mitchell Marsh. It was an arm ball from Ravindra Jadeja after pitching up skidded through. Marsh tried to hit the ball on the leg side got beaten by the pace and lost his stumps. That is a good wicket for the Super Kings it did seem like the game was running away from them a bit but that wicket put things in the balance here. Ayush Badoni has walked into the middle. He is quite a tricky batter to deal with Badoni. While not so muscular he still can hurt teams badly bit hitting the ball into his areas.

This is a nice partnership brewing between Pant and Marsh as we have reached the first time out. While Pant who has not had a good tournament has looked so far in good touch it is Mitchell Marsh who has had a terrific tournament and is struggling with his timing. However, the important part is he is still in the middle. It is one of those wickets here at Lucknow where one of the batters has to bat till the end of the innings meanwhile batters from the other end complement him with some quick-fire cameos as the softer the ball gets it gets harder and harder it to get the quick runs away.

How often do we see in the modern game both the new ball bowlers bowl three overs each in the powerplay? That's what you get from MS Dhoni no-nonsense cricket. While at times the pre-estimation of overs stack up off-field dictates and dominates instinct so much in the modern games it is heartwarming to see someone like MS Dhoni still go with the instincts and stick to the basics of the game. This is one thing he brings to the table as captain. He does not overcomplicate things and gives freedom to players to express themselves. After the powerplay, Jamie Overton comes into the attack for his first over.

The discipline bore fruits again for Chennai Super Kings and it is Anshul Kamboj this time. He changed the angle came around the wicket and nipped the ball back in. Pooran tried to flick it with his wrist missed the delivery and was trapped in front of the wickets. The umpire did not give it out however, Kamboj convinced skipper MS Dhoni to send it upstairs which he did and to their pleasant surprise there were three reds on the ball-tracking. This has been a terrific start from Chennai Super Kings in this game. They have bowled some exceptional lenghts right from ball one.

This is an exceptional start for the Super Kings. There is a tinge of grass on this surface however, it also is down to how good the new ball bowlers have been able to execute their lengths. While Khaleel has been able to pitch the ball and get some swing, Kamboj has with military discipline been banging away the ball in that good length area. LSG need to take a few more chances here. They cannot just let the CSK bowlers keep bowling at the length which they are wanting to. Having said that credit must be given to CSK bowlers they have been spot on from the word go here.

Khaleel Ahmed has picked up Aiden Markram in the opening over. It was a bit of a late swing which did the trick for Ahmed. He pitched the ball on the middle and stump and Markram hoped to work the ball on the leg side closed the bat face early and it took the leading edge and Rahul Tripathi took a sublime catch running backwards. He has not been having a good tournament, and neither does CSK's inspired catch and first wicket which might lift the spirit to deliver an inspired performance. However, to stop that Nicholas Pooran has come into the middle for the LSG.

It is going to be a tough contest here. It is a brave decision from MS Dhoni to bowl first. Yes, while chasing might be a more logical call if Lucknow were to get away with a good start Lucknow would put on a good score and with the dimensions of the boundaries here it can be a tad bit nasty business chasing on this ground.

It looks like it'll play a little bit two-paced. There are some grass patches and some bare patches. Key tonight is change of pace for the bowlers.
