Amidst their intense skirmishes over the first three innings, the intriguing Leeds weather played a crucial role in setting up a potential thriller on the final day where the hosts need 350 runs for a record-breaking win.

According to the UK Met Office department, wet weather is likely to persist throughout the morning and afternoon in Headingley, Leeds with chances of rainfall peaking post noon between 12 and 1 pm (6:30pm IST). However, the Met department predicts the weather to be carrying “light rain changing to sunny intervals by early evening.”

Aided by bright and sunny weather on the opening morning last Friday, India entered their new Test era with a comprehensive batting performance led by centuries from captain Gill, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant. After earning a slender six-run lead, India put on another sturdy second-innings display with Pant and KL Rahul breaching the three-figure mark. The five centuries in the match are the highest-ever by India in their Test history.
