India pacer Mohammed Shami has said he was hurt to see the way Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh celebrated with the World Cup trophy after the final.

Australia defeated India by six wickets in the final and an image from the post-match celebration has gone viral, where Marsh can be seen resting his feet on the trophy with a beer in his hand.

“I am hurt,” Shami told reporters at his home in Amroha.

“The trophy for which all the teams in the world fight, the trophy which you want to lift over your head, keeping a foot on that trophy did not make me happy.”

Shami ened the World Cup with 24 wickets, including three five-wicket hauls.

Meanwhile, Marsh, who scored 441 runs at 49.00 during the World Cup, had downplayed his celebration when asked about the photo after he touched down in Melbourne earlier this week.

“It’s got a bit of legs that photo, hasn’t it?” he joked.

“Pardon the pun.”

The all-rounder is not aware of the backlash he has received due to his image.

“Am I? I haven’t seen a lot, but there you go,” he said.

Marsh will be a pivotal part of Australia’s Test side when they will take on Pakistan in the three-match series, starting from December 14 at Perth.
