CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said that Jadeja might have felt hurt due to the fans' cheers after his dismissal because of the upcoming arrival of Dhoni. With the Chennai Super Kings winning their 5th Indian Premier League trophy this year after defeating Gujarat Titans, the franchise is on cloud nine at the moment. But during the season, there were rumours of rift between all rounder Ravindra Jadeja and captain MS Dhoni when the former told broadcasters that the fans ‘wait for him to get out.’ He also posted a cryptic tweet saying, “Karma will get back at you, sooner or later it surely will.”
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan, meanwhile, cleared the air about the supposed ‘rift’ saying that all was well within the camp but added that Jadeja might have felt hurt due to the fans’ cheers after his dismissal because of the upcoming arrival of Dhoni.
“As far as Jadeja is concerned, he bowled superbly. While batting, our line-up of Ruturaj, Conway, Moeen, Rahane, with the results, whenever he [Jadeja] went in to bat, he had 5-10 balls left. In such situations, it can or can’t click sometimes. But the thing is he also knew Dhoni was to come in next, and he himself would get just 2-3 balls sometimes. In such situations whenever he went in, the crowd used to welcome Dhoni. In a way, he may have felt hurt. Any player for that matter may have had that pressure. But he didn’t complain about it even though he put out a tweet,” Viswanathan said in a conversation with ESPN Cricinfo.
“It’s all part and parcel of the game. After the last game, people saw videos online and assumed I’m pacifying Jadeja, but it wasn’t like that. I was talking to him about the match, what he did. We didn’t have any other discussion. Everyone knows in a team environment, what happens in the dressing room, no one is privy to it outside. We don’t have any problem. He always had high respect for Dhoni. After the final also, he said, ‘I dedicate this knock to Dhoni.’ That is the kind of respect he has for MS,” he added.
Jadeja, who scored the winning runs for Chennai in the final, dedicated the title to Dhoni. “I’d like to dedicate this win to a special member of the CSK side, MS Dhoni,” Jadeja said after the match. “This feels amazing, winning my fifth title in front of my home crowd. I’m from Gujarat, and it’s a special feeling. This crowd has been amazing. They were waiting for rain to stop till late night, I’d like to say a big congratulations to the CSK fans who came to support us.”
