Axar in the attack now and gives away 2 singles to start as the batters rotate strike. Huge shout for an LBW on Saha next and Pant reluctantly takes the review. Wickets are missing so there goes a review. 2 more to end the over. 4 from this one 

Mukesh Kumar to bowl the last over inside the powerplay and yields a single off the first 2 balls. Oh dear!! Nortje has a horrible misfield as GT get a lucky 4!! Saha with a single next and Sai in strike. 7 from this one. 

Rasikh Salam in the attack now and almost gets a wicket but Axar has dropped Sai!! Follows it up with a four!! Through the covers. You got to feel for the bowler here. A single next and Saha with a boundary of his own!! 10 from the over

Nortje continues and beats Sai with pace in the first delivery before the batter loops the next ball over the fielders for a four to third man. Follows it up with another boundary, this time through deep extra cover. 9 from the over and 50 up for Gujarat 

Khaleel Ahmed in to bowl the 3ed and Sudharsan takes a single to start. Saha on strike and he plays across the line to get a boundary!! Flicks the next ball, out of the reach of the fielder in the circle and that's another 4!! Takes 2 more from the 5th delivery before ending this over with a huge six!! 17 from this one.

Anrich Nortje in the attack now and Gill starts with a boundary!!! And the bowler with a comenack straight away as Gill is gone!! Axar backpedals and gets a good catch!!

Khaleel Ahmed will bowl the first over of the chase and Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha will satrt. And Saha is off the mark with a glorious four, just like Shaw did in the Capitals innings. Single next and Gill on strike on the 4th ball and he gets an edge but is just out of the reach of the fielder. 8 from this over

I think it's phenomenal effort. They're fantastic finishers (on Pant and Stubbs), that's what we talked about when we were in the middle. My role was to take on the three spinners, the talk was that we should take the partnership as deep as possible, the ball wasn't coming onto the bat, was a slow pitch. The mindset is very important, you can't think about playing off a bowler, the mindset was to be attacking, take the single and twos on offer and keep rotating the strike. We thought 170-180 would be a good score, so this (224 should be enough to win the match)

Last over now and what can Delhi get from this one? Mohit will bowl and Pant takes 2 to start. Brilliant fielding from Sai Kishore to keep it at 2. A wide next before the extra ball is hit for a six!! Goes through the hands of Shahrukh Khan in the deep as well. 200 up for DC. And that's another four!! Reaches for it and finds a boundary!! Nearly one handed. And follow that up with another 6!!! 19 already!! Gives another full toss and he has been punished for a six!! Finishes the over with another six!! DC finish with 224/4. 31 from this over!!

Sai Kishore introduced for the first time in this match now and Stubbs takes a single to start. Pant with a single next and Stubbs with acover drive to get four!! Follows that up with a flick for a huge six!!! And would you believe it, he has found another boundary again!! Ends the over with another six!! This is carnage!! 22-run over this one 

Figures of 0/35 won't be considered too bad, judging by the way bowlers have been generally treated in this IPL. But when your name is Rashid Khan, you have higher standards to live up to. Bowling to two left-handers in Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel may not have been the most favourable match-up for the Afghan leg-spinner, but that has rarely mattered for one of the most consistent performers in franchise cricket. Each one of his four overs contained at least one boundary, but even then, the second half of his spell was bit of a comeback. After conceding 22 in his first two overs, the next two went for only 13. After a six and two fours in his first 12 balls, his last 12 conceded just two fours, one of them to end his spell. Axar was the more aggressive of the two left-handers against Rashid, as all but one four he was hit for came off his blade.

All you would notice is that violent yet elastic swirl of the wrists. In the next brush of reality, you realise the ball has crashed onto the fence-cushions. Unless you have really quick eyes, you fail to notice the blurry bat-speed of Rishabh Pant when he cuts as well as the eye-twitchy speed of the ball burning the grass fence-ward. The Pant cut is a stroke of malevolent beauty. He doesn’t really hang back, but rather arches his body,  gets his back-foot slightly across and thunderbolts the shot. It’s a real mean, bad shot, in its fury reminiscent of the Caribbean cutters of the past. It’s more than a cut really, a slash from an axe, a shot from an antique double barrel gun from Wild West movies. You could feel an imaginary beat of Ennio Morricone Western Spaghetti score in the background, or a cowboy cap for a helmet. It’s also a stroke that conveys the mood of Pant, when he starts middling those cuts, it’s a clear sign of an impending onslaught.

Mohit Sharma will continue and Pant takes a single to move to 49. Stubbs on strike and smashes the very first ball for a four!! Takes a single next and Pant back on strike. Aand he hits a six to get to his 50!! Misses the next ball with a huge swing. 2 to end this over. 14 from it

Noor Ahmad back and Axar with a single to bring up the 100-run partnership!! A single by Pant to give the strike back before Axar smashes another six!! Goes to 60, his highest in the IPL. Goes again!! TYhis time straighter and gets another six!! Over the long on boundary it goes. And he's gone the next abll as he plays it right into the hands of Sai Kishore.

Mohit Sharma continues and Pant with a six to start this over opff before taking a single. Axar with 2 runs from the next ball as the scoreboard keeps ticking but they really need more if the hope to reach 200. Pant with another six next as he nears his half century. 16 from the over

Rashid will bowl out with this over and he gives away just 3 from the first 4 balls. Axar, however, does not let this over go to wasre as he smashes the last ball for a four to bring up his 50!! 7 from the over

Shahrukh Khan is now introduced in the atatck as the spin barrage continues. Starts with back to back dots as Pant defends vefore taking a single off the third. Axar swings at the next one but gets a single. And a six by Axar to end the over. 9 from this over

Rashid Khan to bowl his 3rd over and Axar wanted to sweep but it just hits his leg. Follows that up with a boundary, this time to deep extra cover. Just 6 from the over ultimately as Rashid keeps it tight in the remaining balls.

Mohit Sharma introduced in the attack and Pant with a boundary to start. The 50-run partnership is up in 33 balls for the duo. Back to back singles as the batters rotate strikes. And that's 100 up for DC. The over ends with another boundary. 12 from this one

Noor Ahmad in the atatck again and Pant gets a lucky edge which keeps him from getting stumped. Next ball, slog sweeps and gets a six over deep midwicket!! Takes a single next and Axar goes aftter the 4th ball which has gone over the covers to get a boundary. 13 from this over

Rashid Khan continues and yields 2 from the first 2 deliveries before Axar finds a gap between two fielders to get a bundary through deep midwicket. Pant in the attack and he finds the same gap and it yields the same result. Not a typical Rashid over. 12 from this one

Noor Ahmad introduced and Rishabh Pant welcomes him with a slog sweep shot which goes to the short fine boundary for a four!! 4 more from the next four deliveries before a single to end this one. 9 from this over.

Axar Patel and Shai Hope are not players expected to take down a bowling attack on a regular basis. That they found themselves together in the middle of the Powerplay showed the paucity of hitting talent for Delhi Capitals, in the absence of David Warner, who has not lit up the IPL till now. Prithvi Shaw and the new blockbuster talent Jake Fraser-McGurk showed positive intent at the start, but that approach is not without risk. Once they fell on the sword, followed by Hope, it was a familiar story for Capitals as they finished the Powerplay at 44/3 after being 34 for no loss after three overs. They had gone with Abishek Porel at No.3 for a few matches, but the youngster was pushed down the batting order in this game as the run rate floundered. That with the Afghan spin duo yet to come on. It showed a lack of clarity and confidence in a struggling campaign.

The mistimed pull from Prithvi Shaw was dipping furiously into the grass. Noor Ahmed, the fielder at deep backward square leg, seemed a trifle slow to react. But just before the ball brushed the dewy grass, Noor’s fingers of the right palms (his weaker hand) cushioned it. Impeccable was his technique, he slid on his knees, his body fully behind the ball, and the head unshaken, all with a minimal follow through. He did not lunge fully forward, which would not have given him the control. The thudding of the elbows on the ground could have resulted in the ball bobbling out of his hands. Equally poised was when he got under the skier of Jake Fraser-McGurk. The ball seemed lost in the skies, the boundary rope was nearby, the noise from the home crowd would have been ear-splitting. But the 19-year-old mystery spinner from Herat kept his head and caught the ball with the reverse-cup technique.

Rashid Khan in the attack now and Axar takes a single to start which is replicated by Pnt in the next ball with a single of his own. A long shout for an LBW but no one is interested so no review. Patel goes down on a knee and smashes the next ball over the deep mid-wicket boundary for a six!! 10 from the over 

Azmatullah to finish up his spell with this over and he starts with back to back three dots as Axar Patel struggles to get away. He finally gets a bat to the 4th ball and slashes it for a four!! That was needed by the Capitals. 5 from this over.

Warrier to bowl the last over inside the powerplay and he yields a single off the first two deliveries. And that's another down for Delhi!!! Shai Hope with a mistimed shot and Rashid Khan runs a fair distance and takes a diving catch!! That's 3 for Warrier.

Azmatullah in to bowl the 5th over and Axar takes a single off the second delivery to put Shai Hope on strike. Brilliant fielding to keep the next delivery to just 1 run. Axar with a single again as GT applies the pressure. Hope with a well timed punch down the ground to fetch a four!! A low full toss and that gets what is deserved. 7 from this over

Is that another gone? If so, Noor Ahmad has taken an absolute worldie here!! Looks like it has bounced off the ground and into the palms of the fielder. The third umpire says that the fingers were underneath the ball and Prithvi Shaw has to walk back.

Warrier continues and starts with a swinging delivery which catches Shaw's top edge but gets a single. Fraser-McGurk on strike and he flicks to the same area again and he's gone. Noor Ahmad under it and he makes no mistake.

Azmatullah to bowl the 3rd and Fraser-McGurk takes a single off the first ball to go off strike. Shaw joins the party as he punishes the loose delivery and that's another boundary!! Delhi have started like a house on fire tonight. Takes a single and Fraser-McGurk is on strike. Spot on length from the bowler which forces him to defend the 5th ball before flicking the last ball over the boundary for another six!!! 12 from this one

Sandeep Warrier in the attack now and starts with a dot but negates it with a wide in the very next ball. Another dot follows as  Fraser-McGurk is kept quiet in the initial stages. The Australian tries another swing but misses the next delivery. Finally gets a proper bat to the fourth delivery and swings for the fences which gets him a six!!  He goes again and this time it's one bounce and into the long on boundary. Ends with a single. 12 from this over 

Jake Fraser-McGurk and Prithvi Shaw in the middle and Azmatullah will open the attack for Gujarat. And Shaw with a boundary, straight off the bat. Beautiful shot to get off the mark. Takes a single and Fraser-McGurk is on strike now. Bad misfielding in the deep leads to another boundary. Delhi won't mind that one bit. Hits another one high but not wide, chanbce for a catch but the GT fielder misjudges!! It lands safely. 10 from the over

Gujarat will be fielding an unchanged team from their victory against Punjab while Delhi have made two changes with David Warner giving way to Shai Hope while Lalit Yadav sits out for Sumit Kumar.

It’s been really enjoyable to contribute to the team. The wickets have been really good and some are batting like it’s a Playstation game. It’s all about keeping up with them. I always like trying to take the game on. At the moment, the scores have been on a whole different level. You have to express yourself and take risks or good options. If you get a good powerplay, you can literally just go for the next 14 overs with an extra batter in the lineup. There’s no more opportunity to play yourself in, I think that’s been the biggest movement. We got to go and win this game, we’ve put ourselves in a position where we have to win almost every game. We’re going to come out fighting, try and take every opportunity that comes.

SRH put up a record breaking 125 runs during the batting PP in the last game at this venue, but that was on pitch number 4, we've moved across to pitch number 5 for today's game. 63m and 62m square boundaries while the straight boundary is at 72m. The pitch in the last game was completely different to what's been the case here. The grass seems to be patchy, there has been dry grass and it has been rolled, but there are some bare areas as well. It could be two paced with the spinners getting a bit of help in the first innings, but this pitch looks very good, very well rolled and should play nicely.

The IPL 2024 final will be held at Chennai’s Chepauk on May 26 with the Southern city also getting the second qualifier on May 24. Meanwhile, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the first qualifier on May 21 and the Eliminator on May 22. (Check out the whole schedule)
