Earlier this year, Boney Kapoor made headlines for his striking physical transformation, which included significant weight loss and a hair transplant. The producer often credits his late wife, actor Sridevi, as the inspiration behind the change. In a recent interview, he opened up about his 26-kg weight loss journey and also shared how he quit smoking twice at Sridevi’s request.
During a conversation with Chandra Kochhar, Boney was asked about the secret behind his significant weight loss. “I am a man of extreme will power. I have made a commitment to myself that I will lose 3 kgs more. I am 88 now, I should be 85. I will lose rest of the kilos from my stomach. I weighed 114 kgs, the average weight I lost was 26 kgs. It is because of diet. I have regulated my eating habits,” he revealed.
The producer added, “I drink juices, eat amla, kiwi, fruits, and two egg-whites omelette. For lunch, sometimes I have soup, or I have jowar roti with dal and sabzi. And for dinner, I eat tandoori chicken with soup, or just two glasses of soup. If I feel hungry during the day at office, then I eat chickpea flour cheela. But, there are at least 1-2 cheat days. We have such a social life that we can’t throw tantrums.”

Boney also revealed that his late wife Sridevi was the motivation behind his decision to undergo a hair transplant. “When Sri was there, she was after me and took me to the hospital once for donor hair. I used to think at that time, ‘When I have Sri with me, why do I need to put hair? I won’t get a more beautiful girl than her,'” he said.
During the interview, Boney Kapoor revealed that he has quit smoking twice in his life. He said, “I used to smoke at one point of time in life. I have quit cigarettes twice in my life for her. Once when we weren’t married in 1995. We were in New York. I had a very fancy gold lighter with a watch insid. I was smoking at a restaurant and she said, ‘You said you love me and you’ll do anything for me. Give up smoking.’ I threw the cigarette and lighter immediately. I had one and a half carton of cigarettes in the room. I asked her to fill it with water. I didn’t smoke for 12 years after that.”
The producer continued, “Then, the situation was a little bad so I took the support of cigarettes once again. But, I quit it again a year before Sri passed away. This was the second time, because I wasn’t feeling well. We were returning from the hospital and she said, ‘You don’t love me anymore, you have started smoking again.’ I threw the both cigarette box and lighter once again.”

Boney continued to resist the pull of the bad habit even after Sridevi’s passing. “When her body was right in front of me, I was in a bad shape and itching to smoke. I went to the balcony and people were smoking there. You feel the urge even more due to the smell. Then I told myself, she’s just gone, and if I start smoking again now, it would mean I am shallow and empty. I didn’t smoke then, and I never will,” Boney concluded.
