India’s Prraneeth Vuppala stunned top seed Hans Niemann of the US in the Baku Open. The win also helped the 15-year-old to become India’s 82nd Grandmaster.

The win aagainst Niemann helped Vuppala to cross 2500 in the live ratting. His exact rating point is 2500.5.

Prraneeth, who hails from Telangana scored his final IM-norm and maiden GM-norm in the same event back in March 2022.

Prraneeth scored his first IM-norm at Narcis 7 in Divcibare, Serbia in October 2018. He was only 11 years old then. He scored wins over GM Eduard Andreev (Ukraine), GM Milko Popchev (Bulgaria), IM Igor Solomunovic (Serbia), drew with GM Bogdan Lalic (Croatia) and GM Miodrag R Savic (Serbia).

He crossed 2400 and secured his second IM-norm at Vergani Cup January 2022.

Prraneeth’s live rating will reflect when FIDE Rating list for the month of June will be published on June 1, 2023.
